Luna Tango - Alli Sinclair

I was delighted to be asked to share Alli Sinclair's latest work Luna Tango...

About Luna Tango...

Desperate to understand the reason her mother abandoned her twenty years ago to become a world-class tango dancer, journalist Dani McKenna delves into the world of tango in the hope of exposing decades of lies and deception that have threatened three generations of her family.

When Dani meets the enigmatic Carlos Escudero—a revered tango dancer and man of intense passion—they work together to help her understand why her grandmother lives in fear of all things tango, and how the brutal murder of a tango music legend in Buenos Aires now affects her family.

Luna Tango is now available in print and ebook! click here to visit Alli Sinclair and find out more about Luna Tango

Alli Sinclair is Australian born but considers herself a citizen of the world. She spent her early adult years traveling the globe, intent on becoming an Indiana Jones in heels. She scaled mountains in Nepal, Argentina, and Peru, rafted the Ganges, and rode a camel in the Sahara. Argentina and Peru became her home for a few years and when she wasn’t working as a mountain or tour guide, Alli could be found in the dance halls dancing the tango, salsa, merengue, and samba.

All of these adventures made for fun storytelling and this is when she discovered her love of writing. Alli’s stories combine her passion for exotic destinations, the quirks of human nature, and the belief that everyone can dance, even if it’s to their own beat.

Alli currently serves on the committee of Romance Writers of Australia as Events Liaison.

Tango DJ... Creating Cortinas

'Sprinkle in the cortinas and stir gently'... says Patrick Laderman. What is a cortina? In Argentine Tango, a cortina is the piece of music played between tandas (3-4 pieces of music) at a milonga (a tango dance). When the DJ plays the cortina, it lets the dancers know that the tanda has has ended, and that it is time to leave the floor.

How long is the cortina music? Milonga 101 link here

If you would like to create your own unique cortina and have been wondering how to go about it...

What is your preferred cortina at a dance? A danceable or non danceable piece?

Watch Tango Partners' Brain Waves Synchronise

Ever wonder what happens in the brains of tango dancers? The mind boggles - should we go there? Well someone has been wondering, and experimenting...

Neuro Tango Experiment by Suzanne Dikker - brain awareness week

If someone asked you, if you would take part in a live brain experiment, what would your answer be? I'm sure I'd say 'no way'. However these willing couples have allowed Suzanne Dikker, a neuroscientist at NYU, to experiment on theirs. In these videos we get to have a peep into tango dancers' brains.
